Mayor Amanoden “Tenney” Ducol and Vice Mayor Dialalodin Maruhom warmly welcomed GPH Peace Implementing Chair Presidential Assistant Cesar B. Yano, DSWD Undersecretary Alan A. Tanjusay, PBGEN Romaldo G. Bayting, AFP Battalion Officer Lt. COL John Anthony Lee Lalas, 103rd Infantry CMO Officer COL. Palawan Miondas, NAC Commissioner Nasser Marohomsalic, along with other officials and delegates today at Camp Bilal, Brgy. Dapao, Pualas Lanao del Sur for the Eid Al-Adha Solidarity and Confidence-Building Activities for decommissioned combatants, young morits (madrasah students), and the MILF community.
The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) initiated a series of activities, including the provision of rice, relief goods, hygiene kits, and distribution of learning materials. Additionally, a public awareness campaign was conducted for decommissioned combatants, morits, and members of the MILF community. A report detailing the ongoing initiatives and accomplishments of OPAPRU for the Camp transformation plan and Camp Bilal was presented, aligning with the implementation of the agreement under the annex on normalization. This ensures that all camps transform into communities where social services are accessible, and important facilities and infrastructures are present.
In his closing remarks, Mayor Tenney thanked all the men and women behind the program, the organizers, and especially the MILF community for their warm welcome and support for the ongoing initiatives of the Philippine Government. He emphasized the importance of these efforts for the sustainability of the camp transformation plans and activities. The event concluded with a group dialogue between MILF community leaders, LGU, and OPAPRU officials.
